Peer
Support Program
Support Groups
This is one of the core services of the ILC
movement. It involves the use of persons with various disability experiences
who have successfully learned to cope with a disability. A Peer Supporter is
able to share these experiences and information with others who find themselves
in a similar situation.
Peer Supporters can be persons with disabilities, family members and/or friends
who have a desire to support others with similar issues and concerns.
The Peer Supporter must participate in formal training and agree to work with,
and communicate with, the coordinator of the program to ensure that all needs
are met.
